I’m Reggie and for many years, I worked as a hospital based Social Worker and saw patients struggling with chronic illness. A common pattern I noticed was they ate a diet lacking in nutrition, battled substance addictions, didn‘t sleep well or manage stress and were sedentary. I looked at the lifestyles of healthy populations and saw that some chronic illnesses can be prevented.
Prior to becoming a vegan, I was regularly eating fast food, drinking, sleeping terribly and feeling very stressed. When I went from eating vegan to whole food plant based and quit drinking, my energy levels increased notably. My digestion improved for the first time in my life, headaches became few and far between, I slept well and woke up refreshed with energy and enthusiasm to exercise. Situations that used to stress me became much more manageable. While a whole food plant based diet and a healthy lifestyle may not prevent all disease, it can certainly reduce our risk of developing lifestyle induced illnesses such as diabetes, some cancers and heart disease.
In 2022, I became a certified health coach to help others build habits around nutrition, movement, restorative sleep and stress management. Clients reported clearer thinking, more energy, better sleep, improved digestion and a smaller waistline.
